E120, CI 75470 Carmine, Carminic acid, Cochineal

 

Most people don’t know that  the red substance coloring their food,  cosmetics, clothes or medicines  is often  extracted from the crushed bodies of bugs.On foods you will often seen the one of the following on the ingredients list  Cochineal, Carmine, Crimson Lake, Natural Red 4,  E120,  C.I. 75470,or carminic acid .It looks harmless but it is extracted from farm reared bugs

As shown in video below it can have some nasty side effects such as  allergic reactions, asthmatic attacks, hyper activity and anaphylactic shock in some people.There is almost no product type that can’t reduce costs and make a product more pleasing to the eye by including it in it recipe examples are seen in the video below across almost  every type of food,cosmetic , and pharmaceuticals . Red coloring in food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics has many dangerous effects  and the best way to avoid these is to eat a diet based on  whole plant based food if it is made by man then don’t eat it.
As it is extracted from insects, E120 cannot be consumed by vegetarians
